Synopsis and Discussion

Good air quality is being observed across the Triad today as Hurricane Erin passes by offshore. A cold front will drift into the area but not provide an appreciable change of air mass. A stronger cold front will arrive early next week, bringing with it much lower dew points and cooler temperatures. In the interim, ozone concentrations are expected to remain in the mid to perhaps upper Code Green range. Particle pollution is expected to build slightly and may reach the lower Code Yellow range by Saturday due to a weak high pressure system that will allow for some stagnation. Increased rain chances on Sunday will help push particle pollution levels downward to the Code Green range once again. (Greg Perrotte / perrotgt@forsyth.cc)
