Synopsis and Discussion

AQI readings are low and Code Green to round out the workweek. Weak high pressure will drift by to the north of the area tomorrow before a cold front approaches on Sunday, finally sweeping through on Monday. There may be enough stagnation tomorrow to allow fine particle concentrations to increase to the lower Code Yellow range. As the high pressure drifts away and we begin to get some stronger pre-frontal flow on Sunday, particle pollution levels are expected to mix out into the upper Code Green range then remain there on Monday with the frontal passage. Ozone will continue to hover in the mid Code Green range through the weekend before increasing slightly on Monday with sunshine returning. A fall-like air mass will arrive in the wake of the cold front with much lower dew points and cooler temperatures as we go toward midweek. (Greg Perrotte / perrotgt@forsyth.cc)
