• Don Martin Retires: County Commissioner Don Martin retired after nearly 12 years of service, leaving a legacy of major county investments in schools, parks, libraries, and public facilities.
• Back-to-School Resource Fair: Families are invited to a community resource fair at Highland Avenue Park featuring free bookbags, food, activities, and information from local organizations.
• Commissioners Update: Commissioners will swear in Chris Parker as interim commissioner, elect a new board chair and vice chair, and continue their regular meeting schedule throughout August.
• Black Men Speak: Behavioral Health Services will host its annual Black Men Speak event, bringing the community together for conversations on suicide prevention, mental health, and healing.
• Community Basketball Game: The 4th Annual Community Basketball Game returns with competitive games, free health screenings, community vendors, and family-friendly activities.
• Central Library Adds Sunday Hours: Beginning August 9, Forsyth County Central Library will once again be open on Sundays, expanding access to library services and community events.
• Health Fair & Naloxone Training: Health and Human Services is hosting a community resource fair and opioid overdose reversal training at Carl Russell Community Center.
• Back-to-School Vaccinations: Public Health's Operation Zero Exclusion helps students meet school immunization and health assessment requirements before the enrollment deadline.
• Forsyth WINS Reduces Violence: Learn how the Forsyth WINS program is working to reduce gun violence and improve community safety.
• Alcohol Deaths on the Rise: Behavioral Health Services discusses the growing impact of alcohol-related deaths in North Carolina and resources available for prevention and recovery.
